The Indian economy is the worlds eleventh largest economy by nominal GDP and the fourth largest by purchasing power parity.[20]Economic reforms since 1991 have transformed it into one of the fastest growing economies in the world;[21] however, it still suffers from poverty,[22]illiteracy,[23]corruption,[24]disease,[25] and malnutrition.[26] India is a nuclear weapon state and has the third-largest standing army in the world.[27] A pluralistic, multilingual and multiethnic society, India is also home to a diversity of wildlife in a variety of protected habitats.
